Homelessness 101
This training gives an overview of homelessness facing our communities and the challenges that those experiencing homelessness face. It provides an introduction to what street outreach is, highlights the needs of the homeless community, and gives a detailed look at the work that The h3 Project does. Run time of this training is approximately one hour, although can be customized upon request.
Human Trafficking Awareness
This training equips you with the knowledge to take an active role in preventing human trafficking. The training defines what human trafficking is, teaches the signs and indicators of various trafficking types, and teaches what to do to help prevent human trafficking from occurring. The run time of this training will vary based on request. Short introductory training spanning one hour covers basics, while in depth and detailed training can span a half or a whole day.
The Intersection of Homelessness and Human Trafficking
This training equips you with knowledge of how individuals experiencing homelessness may be more at risk of being human trafficked, as well as what signs to look for, as well as what action is best to take. The content defines human trafficking and homelessness, teaches the signs and indicators of various trafficking types, and also educates on best practices to prevent human trafficking from occurring. This training takes approximately 1 hour, but can be customized upon request. An h3 Project Course Completion Certificate is provided to participants.
Opioids Overview and Naloxone Administration
Learn how to save a life! This training will provide you with the knowledge and materials needed to reverse an opioid overdose. The content covers the science of opioid use and its impact on the brain, an understanding of common opioids, opioid use specifically in Washington DC, and how to use Naloxone to reverse an overdose. Run time of this training is approximately 45-60 minutes, although a more detailed training spanning a longer length of time can be customized upon request. Participants recieve a certificate of completion as well as a box of NARCAN.
American Heart Association (AHA) HeartSaver CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
The AHA HeartSaver workshop trains students to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, how to provide high-quality Basic Life Support CPR, deliver appropriate ventilation’s and provide early use of an AED for both adults and infants. Response treatment for an airway obstruction or choking is also included. In the First Aid portion students will learn First Aid basics (e.g. treating bleeding, sprains, and broken bones) as well as how to handle medical and environmental emergencies, asthma care and epi-pen use. Class is customized upon request. Upon successful completion of this training students are AHA HeartSaver certified for 2 years.
Management of Aggressive Behavior
In this training, participants will learn basic strategies to identify aggressive behaviors and avoid physical harm. The basic course provides an in-depth curriculum on how to identify, prevent and manage aggressive behavior through various de-escalation techniques. Upon successful completion, participants are able to identify the stages of conflict, when an assault is imminent and what to do in a threatening situation. There are various class options that all include this basic class with extended options of active role playing/scenarios which includes hands-on strategies to control aggressive behavior while avoiding physical harm. Hands-on skills include: defensive strategies from grabs, pulls, holds and strikes, and defensive tactics for guns, edged weapons and choke holds. Depending on class selection(s), the course takes 4, 8 or 12 hours to complete. A MOAB 2 year Course Completion Certificate is given to participants.
